Parent-Child Relationship ~ Aanya Kumar

Image
Parent-Child Relationship Parents play an important role in the lives of children by supporting them all through their lives and being there when most in need. Parents teach children important values and pass on family traditions. However, if parenting is not taken seriously or not done as it should be, it could impact the kids in the long-term with crime being a possible outcome. Kids with improper parenting could end up having depression or struggling hard to prove their worth in order to grab their parents' attention. Kids with overbearing parents can end up either being successful due to the close attention they receive or spoiled because of how pampered they are. Children illuminate the lives of parents by making them proud by the years and teach them patience. Usually, there is a gap of at least one generation between parents and children which could lead to misunderstandings due to the changing times and circumstances. Further on in life, these factors could affect how a chi

Stuck In The Right Place To Be ~ Aanya Kumar

Image
Stuck In The Right Place To Be I love Harry Potter… don’t get me wrong, but being stuck in a world that I have only read about in books! Hold on a minute, I think you need a flashback.  2 MONTHS AGO My name is Aanya Kumar, and I am a Harry Potter fan. By fan I mean a MAJOR fan. I am twelve, which means if I did go to Hogwarts, I would be in my second year. But that’s not too bad… I am pretty sure I will catch up. Do you know what the exciting thing is? My parents are taking me on a trip to London! The exact place where platform 9 ¾ is. AAAAAHHHH!  Ok, ok, calm down. Right… so, tomorrow we have a flight booked straight to London. I am in London. THE London. The same London where THE Harry Potter started Hogwarts from. We visited the King’s Cross Station. I, for once, dashed to find the platform between 10 and 9. “Found it!” I then put my hand on it. With a swoosh, my hand disappeared. Startled, I pulled my hand out. I looked at it as if it were an alien. I touched it with my other han

The Town of Braininess

Image
A light wind blew over the city of Braininess. All was well and peaceful. Streets were full of cheer of the tiny beings living there who were called ‘brain cells’. It was about dinner time. Some families had already started eating. That’s when the brain cells heard a huge thud. “Thump! Thump! Thump!” A brain cell cried, “Aargh! He is going to eat me! Save me! Heaaaart!” And then his voice died down and the citizens heard muffled screams. All brain cells had already gathered around the villain. The youngest cell got chance to see the monster only fifteen minutes after the first cell’s tragic death. It was a cell-eating cannibal- a screen with infinite reels and shorts. He was smart and ran directly towards the prime minister: Brain. He had a long talk with Brain and convinced him to stop Heart’s urge. Urgent messages were sent to Heart to stop watching the screen through speed-post. Heart received the messages and (by surprise) accepted their negotiation. The screen turned off, and

Forest Fire in the Class

Image
Forest Fire in the Class Human society is known for its gullibility. A person says something and the other spices up the same thing and passes it on. Then, something entirely different is fabricated. This is how a rumour spreads. When I was younger, I was rather ingenuous and believed all the ghost stories my friends would tell me. Though, now I know better. So many rumours like the existence of Bloody Mary, Annabelle and many other cursed spirits were spread across the school just like wildfire! I, being the credulous one at that time, believed in all of them and sometimes made up ludicrous ideas like sleeping with the idols of gods. One friend of mine, Ahaana, told me once that if we said “Bloody Mary” thrice, then her apparition would appear. I told a few of my friends and they told theirs and the surprise was that I wasn’t the only who believed which was quite a bolt from the blue. For the next month, the only thing we were talking about was summoning Bloody Mary. Around the secon

The Lost Piece of Gold

Image
The Lost Piece of Gold I was waiting at the bus stop when a little child in rags approached me and asked me to read out a letter she was holding in her hands. First thing I noticed was the number of scars on her hands. One of them seemed to be fresh, as red as ruby. She also had a pretty little face. I took the letter and opened it cautiously. It had a very fancy font. It read, ‘Mary Elizabeth, the daughter of the richest man in town is lost for the last 3 years. She was 10 when she left and so, she is 13 now. If you find her, the very heart of her parents, you can get $1,000,000.’ The photo of a very beautiful girl with neat braids and perfect make-up was attached below the text. While reading the letter, I completely forgot about my bus that I had missed two minutes ago. I was foolish at that moment, but a million dollars seemed very tempting. I took hold of the little girl’s hand and set off to look for Mary. Half the day had already passed, but no sign of Mary, and no chance of a

The Foolish Fox (based on the proverb~ "Once bitten, twice shy")

Image
The Foolish Fox Once upon a time, there lived a lion named Lionus. He was the king of the forest, fierce and always ready to fight. However, he was also a very just and patient ruler. One day, he was strolling through his territory when he bumped into the fox called Slyuss. Slyuss wanted to play a trick on the king and so he started screaming, “Help! Help!” He posed as if he was struggling between the claws of the fierce king. A crowd had already gathered. The king swallowed his anger. After a few months, Slyuss invited Lionus to his house for a treat. “Hey! Your highness! Come for a treat at my house at noon.” When Lionus reached there, Slyuss was about to play the same trick on him. However, before he could do so, Lionus backfired Slyuss’ plan. He acted as if he were choking. He then started screaming for someone who could treat poisoning. ”Oh please! Someone help! I have been poisoned!” “Fool me once shame on me; fool me twice shame on you!” He then killed Slyuss in front of the who
